Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana and Dr. Wipawan Vathananai were invited as speakers for sessions moderated by the Thai Society of Hair Restoration Surgeons (TSHRS) to discuss “Hair Transplant in Advanced-Stage Hair Loss” and “What We Know About Hair Growth Induced by Wounding and Its Therapeutic Application?” at the 48th Dermatological Society of Thailand Annual Conference on March 29th, 2024.
Dr. Kulakarn Amonpattana shared her expertise and 15 years of experience in the hair restoration surgery industry, particularly focusing on the combination technique (also known as combo) of Follicular Unit Transplantation (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) for patients with extensive hair loss. She emphasized that FUT retains distinct advantages that are more suitable for certain patients compared to FUE.
Dr. Wipawan Vathananai, also known as Dr. Wunny, discussed non-surgical wound-induced procedures such as microneedling, fractional laser, and scalp threading as monotherapy for androgenetic alopecia (AGA), highlighting their efficacy and safety. Although these procedures are simple, do not require surgical intervention, and offer short recovery times for patients, it is essential to note that some of them lack long-term studies regarding potential complications and safety.
